The General Secretary of Catholic Schools in Lebanon issued the following statement:
Adhering to the teachings of the Pope Francis who calls for the preservation of human dignity above all times and places and the right to a dignified life, the General Secretary of Catholic Schools strongly condemns the acts of killing and violations of human dignity wherever they may occur. It also denounces the security breakdown occurring in Lebanon and calls on the state and its security institutions to respect their national responsibilities and ensure security and stability throughout the country, so that its schools all over the nation can continue their comprehensive educational mission aimed to build an open, peaceful, and loving Lebanese citizen who cares for his fellow human being.
Therefore, based on the logic of peace, love, and human brotherhood advocated by the joyous celebrations of Easter and Eid Al-Fitr, the General Secretary of Catholic Schools calls for considering tomorrow, Friday, a day of prayer for the salvation of Lebanon, and for closing its schools on this day across all Lebanese territories."
