Maronite Patriarch, Bechara Boutros Rahi, said on Friday, at the end of his meeting with the President of the Republic Michel Aoun at Baabda Palace, that "the controversy over the officer seniority decree is not necessary since it [the seniority decree] bears no financial burden, contrary to the promotions decree".
Patriarch Rahi pointed out that the Minister of Defense is the one concerned to sign the seniority decree, stressing that such a problem can be swiftly resolved if goodwill exists.
The Patriarch stressed that the President is highly keen on the country's welfare and wellbeing, adding that a spat over the seniority decree is needless.
On the other hand, the Patriarch hoped that the forthcoming parliamentary elections would not be postponed.
