President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, on Monday cabled Russian President, Vladimir Putin, congratulating him on his re-election as President of the Russian Federation.
In his cable, President Aoun said that Lebanon, which enjoys deeply rooted friendly relations with Russia, looks forward to continuing the long history of cooperation with the Russian Federation under Putin's wise leadership and its aspiration to realize rights and achieve justice among peoples.
Aoun underlined the need to seek fair solutions to international disputes, based on the principles of solidarity and respect for international legitimate laws and the Declaration of human rights.
On the other hand, Aoun welcomed at the Baabda Palace the President of the Lebanese Red Cross, Dr. Antoine Zoghbi, who came in the company of the Red Cross medic, Zeinab Abdel Raouf Salam, who informed the President of her plan to climb the Himalaya Mountains and Island Peak Summit (6189 meters height).
Salam asked for the President's signature on the flag to be fixed on the peak of the Summit. She expressed her enthusiasm for "raising the Lebanese flag on the top of the mountains."
Later, Aoun met with MP Nematallah Abi Nasr, accompanied by his son Malek, with talks reportedly touching on the general situation in the country and current developments.
The President also met with MP Farid Elias Al-Khazen, with whom he discussed general affairs related to Jbeil-Keserouan district.
