The Russian Emergencies Ministry announced that the fires caused dozens of rural homes and agricultural buildings to catch fire in the suburbs of Irkutsk, according to "Russia Today".
A statement issued by the ministry’s press service said: “A fire broke out in the Aluminchik area on the outskirts of Irkutsk, and 15 rural homes and agricultural buildings caught fire. Strong winds contributed to the spread of the fire, and firefighters are currently working to prevent its spread and extinguish the fires that extended over an area of 620 meters square."
The statement indicated that work is also underway to "extinguish several fires that broke out in agricultural areas and fields in the Vesna, Lokomotiv, Oksky, and Victoria regions on the outskirts of Irkutsk, causing damage to 15 buildings, and 22 people and 17 machines are currently working to extinguish them."
