Mark Rutte said on X that he spoke with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and expressed support for “the key role Qatar is playing in the efforts to help resolve this horrific conflict”.
“There must be a ceasefire as soon as possible, followed by a lasting resolution. In addition, it is necessary for far more humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza and for the hostages be released”, he added.
Israeli and certain US officials have recently criticised Qatar’s role as mediator in negotiations between Israel and Hamas, accusing it of not doing enough to pressure Hamas into accepting a deal approve by Israel.
