Close sources to Hizbullah told al-Watan Saudi daily that the party is readying for a decisive battle in al-Qalamoun, the region located between Wadi Barada and Lebanese-Syrian borders. This battle deemed to occur as soon as possible before Geneva 2 conference which is scheduled to be held mid-November.
The sources pointed out that Hizbullah is recruiting at least 15,000 fighters as it is attempting to finalize the battle before Geneva 2 given that the rain season will not help the rebels to counter-strike therefore it will be easy to beat them.
This battle was promoted through the car bomb discovered in Beirut's Dahiyeh that is said to be booby-trapped in Syria's Qalamoun.
Residents of neighboring villages in Lebanon, mainly in Aarsal, fear this battle due to its repercussions which may lead to more divisions inside the country.
A leader in the Free Syrian Army who spoke on condition of anonymity warned Hizbullah of making this step stating that al-Qalamoun comprises rebel fighters way more than the party's guerillas therefore they can fight against the party.
The leader also stressed that the mountainous nature of the region facilitate the fight for the rebels and they can fight thousands of Hizbullah fighters as much as they own munitions and force, as he said.
