Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Saturday called on the BRICS nations to intervene to end the conflict in his country, in a letter delivered to Jacob Zuma President of Republic of South Africa.
BRICS group forms a hope for our humiliated people which is suffering from external intervention in its own affair and against the interests of its people.
Syria has been suffering from terrorism for the past two years backed by Arab and regional countries, killing civilians, destroying infrastructure as well as its own identity. Al Assad urged the BRICS summit to contribute to an immediate end of violence in Syria to guarantee the success of a political solution.
In this message, President Bashar al-Assad asks for intervention by the BRICS to stop the violence in his country and encourage the opening of a dialogue, which he wishes to start."
The president was very positive and deplored the destruction affecting this beautiful country.
The BRICS acronym refers to the nations of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, all developing powers which opposed the use of force in Libya.
